Arrival and departure

Always the best connection

By public transport
The best way to get to the starting point Allzunah is via the Rennsteig train station (2.5 km to Allzunah). Please note that this connection is only offered on weekends and holidays (timetable).

Other distant stations are in Suhl and Ilmenau. We recommend the train station in Ilmenau, where you can reach the starting point Allzunah in 15 kilometers by bike or you take the bus 300 in the direction to Frauenwald. The exit station is located at "Kreuzung Rennsteig" and via the Rennsteig-Radweg you will reach Allzunah (3 kilometers via Rennsteig-Bahnhof and Frauenwald). The most comfortable journey is to use the bike transfer service of Travel Butler, because currently the bus offers only two bicycle parking spaces.

Trains stations along the cycling path are in Stadtilm, Kranichfeld, Bad Berka, Weimar, Oßmannstedt, Apolda and Bad Sulza. At the end of your tour you can use the train station in Grossheringen to get back to your starting point.

Good to know: In Thuringia, bicycles are carried free of charge on local trains.

By bike
You just can't get enough of cycling? Via the Rennsteig-Radweg you can get from Eisenach, Suhl or Neuhaus am Rennweg directly to Allzunah, where the starting point of the Ilmtal-Radweg is. And at the end of your tour, you can simply continue on the Saaleradweg, which connects seamlessly to the Ilmtal-Radweg.

By car
The A4 and A 71 provide ideal access to the starting point of your choice.
